I didn't throw that pencil *at* the CEO...

Hey Reader,

A few years ago, I did something that I've only ever seen happen in movies. I threw a pencil in a board meeting...

I remember exactly what I was doing when it happened. It was a Friday afternoon meeting on this never-ending book project at the software dev company I worked at. I was already tired. I was looking forward to the free yoga class I was attending after work - a perk of my freelance journalism gig.

We'd gone over and over and OVER this damn book for months. And now the CEO, who was seated right next to me, was nit-picking a single word in a single line. In true, "well actually" mansplainy fashion, he was arguing for a synonym. So, I said, "We can use that word if you want to."

Here's where it gets good Reader.

He actually said to me, "Well, this is why you're the editor."

That was it! I was done. I had been holding a pencil in my hand, and I just chucked it on the table in front of me.

"Well, then let's go with what's already there," I said.

And the meeting was tense before wrapping up about 10 minutes later.

In the weeks that followed - my last 2 weeks, to be exact - our graphic designer said he knew at that moment I'd had enough. That I was done.

I learned that day that I was destined for more than arguing over synonyms in a boardroom with a man who thought he knew best anyway.

It taught me that often, the problem isn't the problem. In this case, a lack of confidence had him fiddling with little words on a page, not the words themselves.

Have you been caught in a situation like this, where you know there's more to your career and future than where you're now? Or, flipping the story on its head, have you ever found yourself fiddling with little things because you lacked the clarity or confidence to move from inaction to action in your business?

Both are totally normal and natural. And I've been in both places - although I've only ever thrown a pencil in a meeting that one time!

๐Ÿ’œ

Imagine how much better your business would run if you had a safe place to throw metaphorical pencils, gain clarity on your offers, and share in the ups and downs of business ownership - no matter what phase you're in.

That's what the MBA Membership (MBA = Magickal Business Activation) is all about. It's a supportive space for you to be yourself, receive weekly coaching, and now co-work together with members each week! This is a game-changer if you're neurospicy like me.

Right now, I'm gifting you your first 2 weeks in the Membership. After that, it's just $45/month for weekly group coaching with me, weekly coworking calls, and a distraction-free community off Facebook and other social platforms.

Would you like to be my guest and enjoy 2 weeks free?

If you have any questions, just hit reply and let me know! May you have a week with no pencil-throwing!

Is consistency stressing you out?

Hi Reader, How many posts, dancing Reels, and articles have you seen that talk about consistency in your marketing? If your feeds look anything like mine, I bet tons. But "just be consistent" is way easier said than done. Even for someone like me who lives and dies by her calendar and to-do list. Because sometimes you're just not feeling it. Ironically or not, I just wasn't feeling this email. You're reading this on Sunday (or after), but today's Friday for me, the day after the Lunar Eclipse...

Hey Reader Have I told you about my flight from hell? I was heading back from Las Vegas, and let me tell you, some things really should stay in Vegas. But I had no idea what was next. The first clue that this flight back to Dallas was not normal was when the pilot announced we had to make an emergency landing in Albequerque because someone was having a heart attack. After he safely disembarked with the paramedics, we were back on track. Making our way back to Dallas on a beautiful night....

Hey Reader I know, I know, I know. My subject line isn't exactly the typical perky Megan you're used to. But I'm tired! ๐Ÿคฃ I bet you are, too. ***TL;DR - I'm hosting a free workshop called Hex the Stress Cycle on Thurs, Feb. 27 & I'd love for you to join me!*** Over the past few weeks, I've realized that I'm a few things beyond who I consciously embodied. Someone beyond "The Good Business Witch" and mom, friend, partner, client, etc. I'm a healer, and I'm a record keeper. You may not know...
