Today's Tarot Card:

Hi Reader,

I pulled a Tarot card for you today. It's from the Rhythm and Soul Tarot, by Stacey Williams-Ng, and this is quickly becoming one of my favorite decks.

Our card today is Queen of Jazz:

The Jazz suit takes the place of the Wands in this deck, so you can look up the meaning of this card via your favorite resource. However, there's value in communing with this card.

"The Queen of Jazz is self-assured, energetic, and creative. She is absolutely brimming with talent and enthusiasm, making a powerful first impression everywhere she goes. The quality of her work speaks for itself, and the legacy of her abilities only serves to bolster her appeal."

And the Queen of Jazz's suggested song is: "Brown Gal" by Lil Hardin Armstrong (yes, she was the second wife of Louis Armstrong and inspired the art on this card!).

Hi Reader, It's easy to get caught up in the busyness of the season & if you've listened to this week's podcast episode, you know I had my own acute burnout experience a few days ago. I'm much better now and I've reframed a couple of my thoughts to help me tackle the rest of the season with health and magick. That's the beauty of this work - when stress rears its ugly head and burnout looms, it's way easier to cut it off at the pass so it doesn't become a problem. Our brains are programed to...

Hi Reader, My neighbor's tree right out my office window has gorgeous purple blooms right now that the migrating Monarch butterflies can't get enough of. It's been cool but so nice. And now today, it's 51 degrees (feels like 45 according to the weather app) and leaves are blowing off their branches against the bright blue sky. It reminds me that it’s the season of both letting go and holding on. This time of year used to make me anxious. I’d look back and wonder if I’d done enough, grown...

Hi Reader, I know so many nice people. Many of these people are older ladies I've met at political meetings lately. I adore them. They mean well. They're so nice. When I was growing up, I was told to be nice. Nice meant being polite, holding my tongue, and not wearing white after Labor Day (yes, really.). It meant knowing how to behave at the Easter lunch table and how to write a thank you note after an event. In the early years of my career, being nice meant ceding the conversation to...
