This is our first installment of "Wicked Informed," my business-owner only brief.

I hope you love it! Let's dive in ⬇️

😤TRENDS TO SKIP

Those One-Word Subject Lines Everyone Loves

Ok, IDK if this one is annoying you or not, but I'm seeing a trend of using one or two words only in the subject line. I think this is something new that Liz Wilcox is teaching and it's a great tactic...IF a bunch of other people aren't using it for every subject line all at once.

BTW, I adore Liz and was in her email membership for over a year when I was needing to get into the habit of sending emails. She really got me out of a rut. AND, this is a trend you might want to hold off on for now.

A trend is fun, but when it becomes over-used, people start tuning you (or your emails) out.

🗳️POLITICS & BUSINESS OWNERSHIP

The "Support Small Business" Politicians Who Keep Making It Harder

Every election cycle, someone shows up with a ribbon-cutting photo and a small business talking point. I've stopped clapping. Between tariffs jacking up the cost of inventory, credit card processing fees that no one in Congress seems to actually want to fix, and health insurance costs that make hiring feel like financial self-harm, the gap between what's said about small business and what's done has never been wider.

We just got through primary elections, but some states have runoffs coming up. My advice is to watch the votes and the actual policy, not the speeches. The next time someone talks about supporting small business owners, ask what they've actually done about these topics and more. I mean, Visa & Mastercard alone cost small businesses an estimated $100B a year...

🪤THE TRAP

Politicians talk a good talk, but often disregard what they said on the campaign trail once they're in office.

🏋️‍♀️THE MOVE

Believe actions, not words. Check on their voting history. This is how you stay engaged without getting dragged down.

🔢THE NUMBERS THAT MATTER

$2.7 Trillion & 2% of VC Funding

Women owned businesses generate $2.7 trillion in revenue annually in the US alone. And yet, women founders receive only about 2% of venture capital funding. I've been sitting with that gap for a while. Not because I'm looking for VC money - I'm not - but because it tells you something important about whose business instincts the system is built to trust.

The silver lining, if you want one, is the businesses driving that $2.7 trillion aren't waiting for permission. This Women's History Month, I'm less interested in focusing on the gap and more interested in celebrating the workaround and the absolute amazing tenacity of women business owners!

$2.7 trillion and building!

🔥ONE MOVE, ONE MINUTE

Schedule your Q2 Price Review - Right Now, Before You Talk Yourself Out of it.

Open your calendar, block 90 minutes off somewhere in the next 2 weeks. Label it "Q2 Pricing Review" and invite nobody but yourself, your business guides, and your books.

That's the move for this week. Just get it on the calendar. That's half the battle!

🛠️TOOL I'M TESTING

I Asked Claude to Write My Own Performance Review as a CEO

I fed three months of my own emails, project notes, and case studies into Claude & asked it to write me a performance review...as if it were my manager. Eek! Turns out, having a neutral party reflect your patterns back to you is a little humbling and a lot of clarifying. It caught things I'd been avoiding: a task I kept deprioritizing, an opportunity to hire a VA, and a revenue stream I kept saying I'd "get to."

AI is definitely not a replacement for a coach or a mentor, but if you don't have a boss holding you accountable, it's a nice tool to help make sure we're checking the boxes we actually need to check.

🌙COSMIC CORNER

Mars Wants You to Get Serious About What's Serious

On Friday, March 13th (yay another Friday the 13th!!!!) Mars conjoins the North Node. The North Node is what we want to bring into our lives and with Mars conjunct this point, it's essential you look at any urgency you have around doing the damn thing (whatever that thing might be) and ask yourself, "Is this all that urgent?" Because sometimes it's not.

Friday is a GREAT day to show yourself and your business some love. Take a few minutes to rethink what you're prioritizing in both life and biz.

Hi Reader, My foray into the world of witchcraft and energy healing began with studying neuroscience-based meditation. I even eventually became a Fellow of the Neurosculpting Institute® in Denver, Colorado. It's like I needed science to say it was ok to get into something that felt really "woo." Boy, how things have changed, huh? Anyway, while I was at the NSI, I facilitated hundreds of meditation sessions, mentored new facilitators, and wrote for the institute's blog. That also means that...

Hi Reader, I've been rewatching "Mad Men" lately and I'm struck by the themes that seep through the soapy drama. If you're unfamiliar, the show is about people in an advertising agency, and yes, since it's set in the 1960s, it's mostly an agency full of men. What strikes me is how they approach advertising - and it truly reflects the real world. Advertising works because it assumes that there's a problem that needs to be solved. We want something "better," whether it's our complexion,...

Hi Reader, I started my workday by casting a spell for myself. When was the last time you cast a spell or said a prayer for yourself? Today, mine was for self-love and self-worth. Because no matter how “good” we are at the mindset game, sometimes we need the reminder and, in my case, the reset. If I were to guess, I’d say you’re the type of person to be focused on what other people want and need. I feel pretty confident in this guess because I attract people who are driven by a purpose, who...
