Hey Reader
One morning, I got a WhatsApp message from J. She had this brilliant idea to bring women together in community to help them remember who they are. (Spoiler: this was a group of blue dot women in a very red state.) The idea dropped in that morning, and she wasnât sure how she was going to have time to do it, but the overwhelming feeling was, âI need to do this.â
So, we made a plan. There was the venue to secure. The people to coordinate with. The topics to organize. The essence to feel into. Even as she was putting the last-minute touches on the event, we focused on what was most important: her heart had led her to host this event.
Because that was the most important thing: her heart knew what her brain was unsure about.
Weâve been taught to approach our work from a masculine point of view that relies on data, metrics, and numbers. As a lover of science, I adore data. AND, itâs not everything.
The trouble I see (and that J avoided!) is that we get caught up in what we think other people want. We donât listen to our hearts.
When weâre first starting out, we take all the clients or gigs we can manage - because weâre building that portfolio. We become âyes womenâ and accept all the things.
As our business grows, we become focused on what we know works. For so many business owners, this is the time when they get stuck: their brain is telling them one thing because it has experience and says, âThis is the safe bet,â but their heart and intuition are saying, âBut what about this?â
I may be the Good Business Witch, but Iâm telling you, intuition is something we develop over time. Itâs not magick - itâs in our biology. (The magick happens when we follow it!) After a couple of years, weâve learned all these little quirks about our audience. We donât even realize the nuance of those client or customer interactions weâve picked up along the wayâŚthey all filter into our intuition and are stored for later use. They become a part of our knowledge base.
Remember, we have millions of neurons (aka brain cells) in our gut, so when we have a gut feeling, it really is a form of knowledge. When we trust our heart, we are trusting that part of our inner intelligence - the part that feels and responds without overthinking things.
Sometimes we canât articulate WHY we know our community needs something; we justâŚKNOW.
Thatâs what was going on with J. She knew that this was what she was called to do at this moment. As for the logistics? Everything fell into place because sheâd done it before - sheâs a freaking pro!
And guess what? So are you.
If youâve been doing all the right things, and you feel like youâve hit a plateau, maybe itâs time to start tapping into your heart more. Maybe your intuition needs a chance to step up to the mic. The challenge, of course, is to make sure youâre not going off half cocked into the unknown part of business ownership.
Thatâs where I come in. I will hold your hand and tell you if I think your idea needs some work. I will laugh and cry with you through the process. I will stand alongside those intuitive pushes and encourage you to become the TEDx speaker or feral bog witch you want to be.
And I will help you pop the metaphorical champagne when you succeed. đž
So, let me know if youâre ready to step into this new realm of business ownership. I have a cool new 1:1 offer for you that will help you develop a cycle and rhythm in your business thatâs more supportive than anything youâve experienced before. Oh, and it wonât break the bank!
Just hit reply and let me know!
