INSIDE THIS WEEK'S EDITION:
😤TRENDS TO SKIP 🗳️POLITICS & BIZ 🔢NUMBERS THAT MATTER 🔥ONE MOVE 🛠️TOOL I'M TESTING 🌙COSMIC CORNER
Happy Tuesday, Reader!
April is here, and with it the Full Moon, questions about how much to share after the No Kings marches, and a fresh reminder that running a business well means actually "running" yourself well too.
Let's get into it ➡️

😤TRENDS TO SKIP
Productivity Theater on Social
Are you running a business or performing running a business?
Because there is a whole genre of content right now that looks incredibly productive and produces almost nothing of value. You know the ones: the 5am alarm, the color-coded Notion dashboard, the "CEO morning routine" reel. Those "my 5-9 before my 9-5" are aesthetic but, frankly, exhausting! And seriously, the more time you spend filming your habits for content purposes only, the less time you're actually in them.
|
|
|
Real productivity is too focused and busy to worry about the aesthetics for the 'gram. |

🗳️POLITICS & BUSINESS OWNERSHIP
Should You Share Your No Kings Photos?
Look, only you know your business and clients/customers, so ultimately, it's up to you. HOWEVER, people are making important decisions about who to follow and who to buy from based on their values and politics these days.
So, my recommendation is share those pics! Be careful not to catch anyone else's face in the images (or blur them out before posting on IG) because you don't want to "out" someone else accidentally, but post your stuff! People want to see what you're up to - in business and in life.

|
|
🪤THE TRAP
Staying quiet to avoid losing anyone, and losing yourself (and DREAM clients) in the process.
|
|
💪THE MOVE
Decide intentionally and step up to that plate. You already showed up in person, which is arguably the harder part.

🔢THE NUMBERS THAT MATTER
If You're Working 50 hours/week, Your Brain Has Clocked Out
The average small business owner works 49.4 hours per week (unless you're one of my clients - because we streamline that sh!t). Meanwhile, research shows that cognitive performance starts declining meaningfully after around 50 hours. That means your ability to reason, problem solve, think creatively, and make good calls drops off a cliff.
You do NOT want to be making the most important decisions in the exact hours your brain is least equipped to handle them. And if this feels like you, we need to talk. Research shows that the average owner spends nearly 70% of their time on daily operations and only 30% on actual growth. Your genius is too valuable to spend only 30% of your time working with it each week.
Tip: "Clock out" before your brain does!

🔥ONE MOVE, ONE MINUTE
Write Your "I Don't Do That" List
Ok, we're flippin' the script again. Open a blank doc and write down everything your business has officially decided it doesn't do. These are offers you don't make, clients you don't work with, situations you don't tolerate, and working styles that don't fit.
Keep it to one page and get SUPER specific. Don't be polite about it either. This is just for you.
We spend a lot of time looking for ideal clients, ideal offers, etc. And switching things up brings some precision to your business through sharp clarity. Every time you say "yes" to something on this list, it costs you time, energy, and usually money.
Once you're done, keep it somewhere handy to reference next time someone makes you a very tempting, very wrong offer.

🛠️TOOL I'M TESTING
Insight Timer for Actual Rest
I know, I know. A meditation app in a business newsletter. Groundbreaking.
Recently, my thyroid & hormones have been super wonky, so I've been working to lower my blood pressure (yes, I'm seeing a doctor and things are better!). The funny thing is, when your body is having a physiological response to something being out of balance, your mind gets into a pattern that mirrors it. So, even as my BP is regulating, my mind is still swirling.
So, I re-downloaded my Insight Timer app. The free version has so much content that I don't think you could possibly get through. I'm loving the breathing exercises lately - so easy! PLUS, the unexpected benefit is that the meditations and activities are inspiring my Reiki and coaching sessions!

🌙COSMIC CORNER
The Full Moon in Libra Invites a Rebalance
We've been running hard and fast with Aries energy all around us. And on April 1st, Aries's sister sign, Libra, says, "Whoa, whoa. Slow down a bit." Libra seeks harmony and balance, and this lunation is spotlighting your relationships and reciprocity. You've expressed yourself, launched something new, and indulged in your passions. Now it's time to look at how you relate to others around you.
For your biz, use this Full Moon to check in with parts of your work that have become lopsided. Is there someone who has been taking more than they're giving? Are YOU over-delivering or over-giving? This is a good time to shift things.
Create space for yourself AND your partners - in business, work, life, and love!
