Is that barrage of information getting to you?

Hi Reader,

If you’ve been feeling foggy, flat, or strangely numb lately, I want you to hear this clearly:

You’re not failing at life. There's nothing wrong with you.
There is seriously way too much going on for our nervous systems to keep up.

This isn't an excuse to tune out of what's going on in the world, but it is an invitation to turn it down.

As an example, the Ep. Files (you know the ones) - we know they're horrible. They're more horrible than any horror film created and produced. They show exactly the kind of evil that people in power are capable of - an evil that most movie writers scripting fiction either couldn't come up with or would never dream of committing to paper.

You don't need to read all the details or doom scroll through post after post about them to know their horrible. Yes, it's important to know the names of the offenders, but no, you don't have to read every little detail to know who those people are.

Instead, call your representatives and demand that the remaining names of the offenders be unredacted. That's a far more productive use of your energy than scrolling for hours on end and feeding your nervous system horror after horror.

If you're worn about by it all, your nervous system is telling you that something needs to change. You don't need to double down on effort or engagement with a particular topic. Instead, you need a different way of relating to your energy, your time, and your expectations.

This applies to everything from current events to small demands on your time.

Today, I invite you to try this one small thing:
Before you say yes to anything — an email, a favor, a plan — pause and ask your body, “Do I actually have the capacity for this?”

Not time, not motivation or some other patriarchal concept I talk about on the podcast this week, but capacity.

Breaking up with burnout doesn’t start with a grand overhaul. It starts with tiny moments of honesty with yourself.

xoxo,
Megan

Hi Reader, I burned out spectacularly in 2021. Like, the kind of burnout where you're crying in your car before a client call, wondering if you can just...disappear to Bali and sell coconuts on the beach instead. Except it happened on a random Sunday morning in line at a brunch spot and I made a scene. (Spoiler: I did not move to Bali. I stayed in Texas and sold business strategy instead. But I thought about beaches A LOT.) Here's what not enough people say about burnout: it's not a personal...

Hi Reader, We just experienced a bold AF Full Moon in Leo, and I pulled cards for the people I know are waiting for the Collective. (Yes, I'm that person. No, I'm not sorry about it.) The cards were wildly consistent: The Empress, The Star, and the Eight of Pentacles. Translation: You have everything you need. Your vision is clear. The work is in the consistent practice. But here's what caught my attention: the Eight of Pentacles showed up reversed. The card of mastery, dedication, and...

Hi Reader, There's this thing that happens when you've been in business long enough. You start to notice the patterns and the cycles. The way certain strategies work beautifully for some people and feel like sandpaper for others. You see brilliant women pushing and grinding, hitting revenue goals while simultaneously unraveling. You watch them celebrate a $10K month while secretly googling "am I burnt out or just tired?" And if you're paying attention, really paying attention, you start to...
